Clearing Up Some Misconceptions

While I am flattered, my Minions, by the impression some of you have of me, I feel the need to clarify a few things that have been popping up in my inbox and mailbox as of late.

1. Auntie Heather does not have people who open her mail for her.

You can look at my papercut fingertips to see that not only do I open all of my mail by myself...I'm also not smart enough to use an letter opener. Besides, I can't afford to hire people to open my mail. Plus, it would be way creepy to know someone was reading my mail before me.

2. Auntie Heather does not have people who run her MySpace for her.

The hours that it takes to maintain and iteract via MySpace are all spent by yours truly. If you get a message from me on there - unless it's a hacker, it's really, truly me.

3. Auntie Heather does not hang out at lavish parties with all sorts of famous author people every weekend.

And no, I don't know Stephanie Meyer personally. I do know lots of ultra cool, amazingly talented authors...but we rarely get together to party, as we're busy writing books.

4. Auntie Heather is 35 years old.

Not 20. Not 16. Not 10.

Thirty-five. And she's totally cool with that. After all, growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

5. Auntie Heather cannot give free books to you, just because you ask her.

If everyone got a free book...no one would buy my books and then my career would be over. That would make me sad. *insert frowny face here*

Any other questions?

Aw man, I was sure you were ten years old! XD

Oh snap, I'm outta the circle of paper-cut-ted people, I never get paper cuts, Lord knows how I don't, considering how I usually get Origami fold-a-day calenders, but magically, I've never gotten a cut from the paper.

But then again, maybe Origami gives you paper cut immunity. *shrugs*

Ooh i just remembered.
My cousin had like 3 katana swords :o
Not sure if they were real tho, he wouldnt let me touch it XD
Maybe i could use those on future zombies :O
&Cool, RJ xD
The only origami i could do is the crane 0.0''
And i'm asian too :(
I dont follow the asian stereotypes XD;

I now look at you in better light, Vampireex3, personally the crane is one of my least favorite figures to fold.

But, people insist that it's the best or something, and it's the first one they teach. I know why they do it, but the reason was over a girl who had like... radiation poison or some other deadly disease, and 'if she got 1000 cranes by this date she would get a wish' well, she didn't, but they had a charity thing and everyone and their mother sent a crane in (lol, that made me think of a funny!:B)and....

Notice how long my posts have been this year? IT IS MADNESS.

Wow...that's so sad! I tried origami but for some reason it doesn't come out quite well...
i get paper cuts..and cat scratches...adn other random cuts without me even knowing -_- i am VERY accident prone...oh well

haha i am so bad at origami!! hehe jess i am just like you! i get some many cuts and bruises and i have no idea how they got there!! haha that is so true Auntie Heather, about growing older. it's really cool that you actually talk back to your minions :)= it's awesome to be able to talk to an author that u really like!

Ooh i think there was a book about the girl and the 1000 cranes :O
I could never fold 1000 cranes :( Not enough time. >.<
I should try over the vacations+summer :P

LMAO VampyJess XD
Since my bag's full of random papers, i think its easy for me to get paper cuts o_o''
Oh well, gonna clean it...later...x]...

Ah right, it was about a japanese girl that had some poisoning from the Atomic Bomb :O

3:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

See, what'd I tell ya? Radiation poison. Oh yes. My memory is not all screwed up.

It wasn't her, she wanted other people to help.

If anyone wants to improve, just get an origami fold-A-day calender, I'm probably 99% better at it after two years of those (and hopefully I can get one this year)

I'll try to find one of those XD

It would probably be at a book store, or if you have Hy-Vee's where you live, I saw one much later than Jan 1st last year. Or you might be able to find one online.

Heh heh... I myself do not have steady hands, just watch me attempt Wii Play... if the cursor's not having an apparent seizure, then it's off the screen.

Yeah that was a pointless thing to say...

8:36 AM

lol, i can be steady if i can concentrate really closely...if not then it's shaky.

9:04 AM

I wonder if steady hands have anything to do with Origami skills in the first place...

You get paper cuts opening your mail? :o I never do, though I rarely get letters in the first place... T_T Also, I agree with the "Growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional." As people who know me say, I am "too nice" and "too responsible". Although, those who know me also know that I get crazy when I'm happy and hyper. ;) So here's my question, Auntie: Do you have two sides to your maturity as well?

5:42 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh.... um.. thought of a good question yesterday...

hemm hemmmmm....

Um, do you like tacos?

AH HA!!!!

What operating system do you use on your computer? What internet service? What writing program?

I have a question where can I find info on the book festival you will be at in may? Also on the Minion Bling do they all look alike or are they differnt?

4:21 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tto Minion 38-14's earlier questions... Cake, Zombie-Vampires who smell like limes, Donuts, Car, Bruce Willis. Yeah, that was pointless =P Please ignore xD

I also have a question for Auntie Heather :o If you were faced with the choice of becoming a vampire, would you do it, or stay human?

6:41 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Question for Zombie which type for Vampire do you mean? Lives forever, burns in sunlight or something else?

8:24 PM

Hmm, I dunno, really. Didn't have anything too specific in mind when I was asking... uhm... I guess just whatever type of vampire you prefer? xD Sure, let's go with that.

Sorry, RJ!! Iuse Vista (it kinda sucks), Charter High Speed (switching over to AT&T later this month!), and Microsoft Word. And, while Taco Bell is good...Taco John's is made of AWESOME!

Jess, if you get nervous, choose like four people in the crowd that you can focus on. Move your attention between them and try to forget everyone else is there. Good luck!

3:33 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I KNEW IT. Cause like... you said something about Vista when I was having problems with MY Vista (still do, but now I can seriously just blame the weather)

As in the internet provider? I was talking about browser, you know, AOL, Firefox (which ironically has spell check, which usually calls itself a misspell), IE, you know...

Unless that IS a browser, which I've never heard of, but I've heard of like four so...

My friend has Microsoft word, my very advanced computer didn't think to just COME with a writing program... unless they hid it (probably did)

I like both, personally... MMM POTATO OLES!!!!

Taco John's is apparently a midwestern thing that you wouldn't understand. I never knew this. Or they just don't have any where you live. *shrugs*

That would explain why i never heard of this Taco John's...

This school is also supposed to be very...prestige....
Lesson here: be nice, don't insult other people in anyway (started otu with name callign by race) and don't get a bat adn parents into it....

Uh, well this kid was calling another kid a name, so the other kids father and older brother got a baseball bat and were goign to...i guess beat up teh other kid when another boy, 'the hero' stepped in, trying to stop teh fight, adn got hurt. He was in teh hospital but got out soon after...

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
