What I Did This Weekend

Besides stuffing myself with turkey and all the trimmings, besides writing until my eyeballs bled, besides doing all my shopping on Black Friday...this weekend, I did the bird tree.

What the heck is a bird tree? And how does one do it, exactly?

Well, Minions, the fam and I decided we wanted some family time together and we also completely adore the birds and squirrels that frequent our back patio. So we put up a tree back there with pretty lights and then commenced to stringing popcorn and cranberries, and pasting pinecones with peanut butter and rolling them in birdseed. The cranberries and popcorn became garland, and the pinecones became ornaments. And now...one particularly chunky lil squirrel is pigging out. The birds are sure to follow.

We had a blast.

But today...today it's back to writing, and the ever looming deadlines.

What did you do this weekend, Minions?

Black is as close as your grocery store (I use L'Oreal), but Blood Red by Special Effects you have to order online. Plus, don't forget to bleach hair (I use White Out bleach from Hot Topic) before you dye it with the red, for maximum color.

Interesting... Someday I want to dye my hair black. (I have blond hair, so bleaching is unnecessary)

We mostly laid around and did nothing this weekend, I turned a cartwheel and made brownies yesterday but... that's about it, and you already know about my hat (look at other comments if you don't) :)

I have been very busy Heather!!! I have three (or more) papers I need to write, three days of school I'll be missing and need to do all the work for, and a trip to El Salvador to pack for and work out the final plans! (Never mind paying for it...)

Thanksgiving I would have normally spent all that time working but I ended up luckily going to my friend's (Sam's) for Thanksgiving dinner with my family. On Friday we went to my Godmothers in Mass. (4 hour drive) and then from there on Sat. we went to RI to have another Thanksgiving with some family. Sunday we came home and I got sick...

Other than that crazy weekend and the ones coming up I have been procrastinating and doing work in my clubs.

I am a very busy minion!

I made all my family watch the movie Howl's Moving Castle. They had no choice. Bwahahaha >:D Anyway, they loved it in the end and thought it was great! I also found out there was a book and read that. It was quite different but still cool. Auntie you must see and read Howl's Moving Castle!! Same to my fellow Minions! Also, if you like the movie you should check out some of Hayao Miyazaki's other works like Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. Each movie is a masterpiece.

Oh my gosh! Princess Monoke is the best movie ever!! Sorry, my computer has been infected or something, so I just got it fixed today....I love that movie! I got to see my family over the weekend, but unfortunately, my cousin had a staph infection. I felt so bad for him cause he was in a lot of pain the whole time :( hopefully it will clear up soon. Oh, and Howl's Moving Castle is great as well!! Camidee I totally agree, every single movie is a masterpiece!

Hayao Miyazaki is a total GENIUS. Princess Mononoke is probably one of my favorite movies, and I loved Howl's Moving Castle too :D (The novel of Howl's Moving Castle is amazing as well. I love it to bits!) Almost my whole family is made up of Miyazaki fans :)

My weekend was pretty uneventful (Visiting my grandmother, seeing relatives, being slightly bored, etc. etc.) until I went over to my cousin's house... and we started watching clips from Japanese game shows, which is my favorite boredom-killing method ;)

Aaand on the previous topic of hairdye (I have to give my two cents ^^; Hairdye is love.) The first time I suggested dyeing my hair to my mom, she was kinda not for it very much. Now she helps me dye it, and I think she actually likes it xD

I'm sorry for rambling... that was a really long message o_o;

my sisters and i put up our fake christmas tree and decorated it.

we also drove around the neighborhood and looked at peeples christmas lights.

there is this one guy who completely covers his house in lights. and they are hooked up to a computer and the computer "tells" the light when to go on and off. and if you go by his house and turn the radio in the car to a certain station, the lights blink to follow the song. its sooooooo cool.

I haven't seen Princess Mononoke yet, only one little part because I missed it when it came on tv. (Stupid party) So I missed it, but my friend might get it for me for Christmas if she can find it, that or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Those two, Porco Rosso, and Castle in the Sky are the only other movies I haven't seen yet. I use to own Kiki's Delivery Service before the Katrina flood but it got washed away, and I use to rent Totoro at Best Buy every time I went when I was younger. XD They don't have it anymore though. Good enemy for a werewolf? Hmm, well in terms of mythical enemies, maybe some other kind of shapeshifting creature? Or if you're looking for something more unique maybe gorgons, or golems, or even a pheonix. Although if you're looking for something less mythical, any kind of hunter carrying something silver like a dagger or bullet, or wolfsbane, or sometimes (as said in some countries) rye and mistletoe. >_> Anyway, if you need more mythical enemies just look it up on google and you'll fina tons.

That really sux that it got washed away. I ahev the video but no video player (so sad). I hope you find it again.
A enemy for a werewolf? A witch, a...hunter? idk. Maybe a fallen angel or soemthing...or a demon! a demon might be one
Now i'm satrtign to loose my mind....so sad.

I would say a slayer, someone who's had a hard life and is a hardened assassin or something to that nature... Or something like a shade from the Inheritance cycle (someone controlled by demons who has lost their own soul and is a walking shell of demon, very, very, very evil. And a very, very, very difficult foe to defeat)

I myself am having trouble, how can you have a couple of slightly magical characters, but they never 'do' any magic? I'm kind of stuck in that area...It'll probably come to me eventually.

8:23 PM
Blogger AVL!_VLAD_LOVER! said...

i'm doing a demon in my book (bad guys; one demon, and a few evil vampires), it good cuz you can never get a demon to be to evil, there is no limit so you can make them as bad as you want, ya' know? so its a good enemy for use.

I'm not looking for creatures, they are both fleshed out characters already. Human-like-people who have been around a bit longer (a few centuries) than any mortal thing could, and I don't know how to tone them down enough to make them uninspiring when it comes to magic.

Example being, one of them does something magical, but the story never states this or dwell on it very much (only very slightly implied) then we see them a century later, exactly the same.

Thanks you guys!

I might do some kind of hunter or slayer.

Now i have to research some werewolf legends.

Yay, research. I've found pages of insight on weird websites, like neopets, for example. Wikipedia is a great place to start, though you probably already have places to look.

mayb u could do something like (RJ, this is what i am doing for my real book, but i'm not gonna spoil the surprise) were your charactor was attacked or something, saved before turning, but becoming immortal, except if soething kills you. just an idea thats what i am doing for my book just i left out some things, (You will all know once i finish it, if i will even be able to finish it)

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
