And the Winner of the Big Contest is...

Let me just say, this has been a TOUGH contest to judge. Who knew I had such talented Minions??

Also, Merry Samhain/Happy Halloween!!! Be safe tonight. For those of you who are curious, I'm donning my wench garb tonight (any excuse to wear a corset in public). Have fun!

Huzzah! We have winners!!

In 1st place, for the Grand Prize, Em with one of my favorite scenes from NINTH GRADE SLAYS:

In 2nd place, 1st prize, Stephanie Vargo with a rendition of Otis driving off into the sunrise, like some kind of vampire cowboy at the end of EIGHTH GRADE BITES:

And in 3rd place, 2nd prize, Samantha Villa with a very tense scene from EIGHTH GRADE BITES:

Fangtastic congrats to the winners, and thank you all for entering - as I said, it was enormously hard to settle on just three. Great job, Minions!

Congrats Zombie. You really do win.

I didn't even enter, I couldn't very well do anything Vlad-like on paint and I don't have a camera or scanner with which to put things on a computer.

The second place one is really cool, but Otis' hair confuzzles me. :(

10:59 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wow those are a lot better than mine. zawmby what did you use to make it? is it some kind of computer program? i used a wierd tyoe of paper, so it looks bad because there a spots everywhere without color. i used a scene when Henry beat Vlad at that video game.(I cant remember the name right now)
tomorrow is Asian Day at my school! YAY! i get to talk about mangs, and Aya Hirano!

I'm glad everyone seems to have had a good Halloween! I had fun trick-or-treating, and then sat in front of the TV until 2 am when I got home, watching Ghost Hunters Live (oh I am such a nerd xD) I was pretty tired the next day ^^;

I used a computer program called Photoshop, Amanda :) It's quite a handy program, but time consuming too. Also, that's a cool choice for a scene to draw, I really liked that one :D

2:52 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

AND expensive, I hear. My sister said it sells in the Apple store for like $700.

Of course, my sister could very well be totally wrong.

3:27 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

guess we'll never know. unless someone DOES know and they tell us. that's a different story.

3:43 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah, it is really crazily expensive, for the really super crazy advanced versions of it. Mine, however, Photoshop 'elements' meaning it pretty much just has some basic stuff and not all the crazy cool other stuff the huge expensive versions come with. I bought it with my drawing tablet, so the total cost was only around $150, and I don't really need all the stuff in the full version, so I get by fine with just this one :)

4:15 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

$150! oh my @*&#%$ god!!! that's a lot of money for some program thing you put on your computer!!! then again, if you use it, i guess it's worth it.

4:39 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nice... that makes sense, Apple has a reputation of being expansive (but worth almost every cent). Don't you think?

5:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

haha. almost. ALMOST. guess what? i love you all!!! and i'm not just saying that!!!

5:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, it wasn't just the program hat was $150, it was my drawing tablet too (but there are programs waaay more expensive than $150, trust me). Apple is very expensive, but yeah, it definitely is worth it!

Spread the love! <3

6:26 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

okay...did u have to much candy alexis?
Anyway, Apple stuff is expansive but for a good reason.

Jess

6:28 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

too much candy?! what makes you say that?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
...ok. sorry about that. no i didn't have too much candy. i just love all of you. not like loooove you. more like...how do i describe it...family love or friend love? y'know? i'm not in love with all of you. i love you all as friends. does anybody love me back??? oh! zombie!!! thank you for supporting my love fest!!!

6:52 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just watch, all of the apple stuff you got now will be dead in 1 to 2 years when they have better stuff...(also meaning more expensive)

6:53 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

that's usually what happens. not like i know anything about apple stuff. you want to talk computers, ask my older brother all the questions. not me.

7:30 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I like you all like friends. i wish school had more people like you. (Did i just say like all of those likes?!) *is goign crazy at the moment and then calms down*
sorry, i had a moment...
That's true Zombie, in fact, i remember when all of the gameboys were expansive adn popular...now my brother wants to sell his/mine.

Teehee, HAhahahahahahahha HEHEHEHEHEHHHHH HYAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Well yes, that IS how consumer stuff and such works, they show you a new thing that they made, tell you that your old thing isn't good enough, pretty much tell you that if you don't get the new thing that you're a failure, then refuse to let you even do anything on the old thing because the new thing is better.

I would know, I have a laptop and iPod that are both old models and can't adapt anything new. /)_<

6:55 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hm, why might they have done that?

Well, if Anonymous is allowed to random then so am I. The quote of the day (according to myself and my friend) is "And he took the coffee."

7:11 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

how dare he take the coffee? wait...was it his coffee???

7:21 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Congratulations to the winners!!!!! I wish I had had the time to enter a drawing, but I didn't' get a chance to even start one :( oh well, the winning ones look Fangtastic!! And I would just like to say.. Apple rules over everything!!! They win, they just do. They are better hands down. Oh, and yes, photoshop is expensive, but technically its not By Apple, so you cant blame them for its cost. It is by Adobe, so its their price. Just getting that out there :)=

9:52 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes well, my sister found it on the Apple store, and I forgot. Sorry, I tend to miss one minor detail all the time.

It was actually his (the Riddler *like from, you know, Batman*'s) COPY, and my friend stole his notebook, then he was sad, then they made a copy and gave him the original one back, then he hunted them down and killed them, and he took the copy, but I thought she said coffee, so thus, the quote of yesterday.
the quote of today should probably come into existence later, or not at all [ :( ]

6:55 AM

well, today is the big day! no, i am not talking about the presidential race, i am talking about the Twilight soundtrack. woot! anyone have it yet?

Anyone here have a zazzle account? i want one. you can design shirts of any kind and sell them. there are some really cool shirts, while others are just stupid.
-amanda^^

6:58 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nice, personally I think that the next President is a little more of a minority than a movie soundtrack (one that completely disagrees with my taste, to boot).

I'm fasting today for the election.

Just throwing that out there, if someone was offended, then one, get over it, I live in America, FREEDOM OF SPEECH LOOK IT UP. And two, I wasn't trying to offend you. :(

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
