NINTH GRADE SLAYS Paperback News!

I have good news for all you Minions who are waiting for the paperback of NINTH GRADE SLAYS to be released. Up until today, the release date was March 5, 2009 - but I just got word from my editor that it's been moved up to January 21, 2009!!! Plus, Amazon is known for shipping early, so you might wanna pre-order it now.

As for Auntie Heather...I've got an appointment with a certain half-vampire/half-human...

Do YOU make the trailers?

Oh no, RJ. I hired a brilliant artist by the name of Marie Lu to create the trailers for me: http://mree.deviantart.com/

Henry (and Joss's) last name is McMillan. And Nelly works at a hospital outside of Bathory, but not the one in Stokerton.

I don't like the cover for "Ninth Grade Slays" as much as Bleeds and Bites. Those ones are cooler. I wish it showed more of Vlad's face on Slays.

4:04 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

i like all the covers!!! but this one boy in my class keeps asking me "what's with the emo book?" he's so annoying!!! like he knows anything.

4:31 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Vlad's not emo! Just . . . a vampire . . .

4:35 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

oh my god...so many people think that all vampire books are emolicious...lol not sure i used that right, but oh well :)= I TOTALLY AGREE!! I am ALWAYS ready for a bowl of Count Chocula!!

5:19 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

i know! i mean, i love all things emo and goth (if that's possible), but still, vlad is not emo! even if he does have emo flippy hair. he's not emo! emo people are always depressed and cut their wrists. vlad can't cut his wrist, he's got an awesome tatoo. i love vampires. i'm always telling the boy in my class, "HE'S NOT EMO!!!" no one listens to me...not even my family...but i don't care...=3
thank you blackleaper12!!! someone who agrees!!! finally!!!

7:16 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

yo, this is chili dog man, remember me? alexis's brother. yeah, so, i just wanted to say that i'm going to the goth side. so, i'll see vlad there. or not. maybe i'll see my good friend, Bobby Smith, aka jelly donuts. so, vlad's a vampire and all. guess what? raisins taste good with vampires. That makes a balanced breakfast. guess what? i don't like bologna!!! i just want to say, even though i'm not crazy about vlad, i still think flippy hair is scrumptiliumpious fergilious! george lopez has a giant head, but not as big as mine!!! (why dont i have friend named bobby smith???)

7:30 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh, I know! If Vlad cuts his wrists he would totally mess up his awesome tattoo! I love vampire too, and goth and emo stuff..so yeah. Me and my friends are all vamp crazy :)= oh well nothing I can do about it.

7:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

dude, out of all my friends, i'm the only one that's crazy about goth and emo and vampire stuff. i'm the only one in my class! i don't get that! shouldn't everyone be crazy about that stuff??? seriously?!?! at least you agree, blackleaper12. i feel like i've known you my whole life. someone i can relate to, finally. a window has been opened up to me, and your on the other side, fellow minions!!!!

7:51 PM
Blogger Heather Brewer said...

If you think about it, Vlad wouldn't mess up his tattoo, as a cut would heal perfectly. However, I don't think he'd ever resort to cutting...

Not all Emo kids cut, but some do. If any of you Minions ever have that urge, please seek help right away - Auntie's orders!

i'm christian too. but cutting yourself is too painful for me. i wouldn't be able to watch myself break my own skin.

8:35 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I've been called emo a lot (and i'm not), but i just want to say that not all emo's cut themselves.
Although i do agree with Auntie, cutting yourself is wrong in many way :)=

Jess

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah not all emos cut themselves, that's just kind of a stereotype assumption...I mean, I've found that lots of people think that all emo people cut. Yeah, i've been called emo a lot too, but i'm not

2:34 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

a lot of people call my little brother emo, like this one boy in my class, when he's the complete opposite of emo. what's wrong with people?!

Jess

6:12 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

yes. yes we do. there's always the normal friend, the weird friend, and the random friend. ...and the awesome friend. i'm usually all four. but that's only cuz i'm awesome!!!

8:47 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

HAHA! oh man that would be a blast! sounds exactly like what me and my friends would do :)=

9:52 PM

my friends wouldn't dare go running through a store screaming and punching people in the face. sometimes, i feel like i should be hangin out with the guys in my class.

Dressed as cereal boxes and screaming = good

Punching people in the face = not cool, unless they punch you first

And HI CHILI DOG!!!

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
