Crazy Stupid Happy

Minions, I am in a phenomenal mood today - was yesterday too, for some reason. Just sitting here at my desk, grinning my fool head off for no apparent reason. :)

*gasp* Maybe I've gone crazy. *shifty eyes*

So, of course, being in the good mood that I am, I feel the need to give an advanced copy of TENTH GRADE BLEEDS away! Just post a comment here to enter (and if you know any Minions who want to win an ARC, you should let them know). I'll pick the winner Monday morning.

Have a fangtastic day!

EDITED TO ADD THIS: It turns out, my Minions, that EIGHTH GRADE BITES has been nominated for the Truman Reader Award here in Missouri!!! Needless to say, I am so friggin' excited that I'm jumping up and down in my stompy boots. So...if you are a student in the state of Missouri...it's up to you to help me win. Very soon, EIGHTH GRADE BITES will be made available to schools and students across the state of Missouri and it's up to you to vote by March 1, 2010. (I'm sure your teachers and librarians will know how) Please, please, please vote for Vlad. It would mean the world to me!

Fangs a lot!

Oh and also, just a few days left for you to win an ARC of DUST OF 100 DOGS by A.S. King!

An ARC is an Advanced Reading Copy - it's an uncorrected proof, kinda like a paperback copy, that all the reviewers get before the book is even out.

And yes, the story contest is still a contest :)

Happy Birthday to Gary P. Geidel! I can't really relate to how it feels to lose someone, but i'm sure it is horrible. *Bakes him a cake* does he like yellow cake w/ chocolate frosting?

Gosh, Auntie Heather, so many contests! i feel overwhelmed. i've taken a short break from writing my short story because it's too long at the moment. i need some time to think up a new plot. I'm still entering the contest, unless i win this copy of Tenth Grade Bleeds. Wait, no, on second thought, i'll still enter the other contest, and if i win both, will donate a copy to my local library (thanks go out to them for having awesome books!).

To Auntie: well i'm reading these reviews at the bottom of this page, and i know a lot of these people! (well not personally). I'm a huge fan of D.J. MacHale and his Pendragon series (go travelers!), Danny Phantom, Christopher Moore (the funniest dude alive), and Douglass Rees. ;) and we all have something in common: our love of Vlad! heh

I am a singe mother of 4, and about 4 years ago my daughter who was 8yrs old at the time(4days before her 9th birthday) got Kidnapped and raped, my son who was then 7 really gave up on so much, he felt like he needed to protect his sister and never focused on anything to do with himself, he is now 11 and is stil the same way with her, i have tried to get him involved with many things but he never wants to, he has failed in school since then also, then out of the blue we stumble across your books and he is so intrigued by them, he reads them in one sitting, and he said to me "mom i know we don't have alot of money and you have to buy for the girls too, but alls i want for christmas is the next book from Heather Brewer TENTH GRADE BLEEDS", so i went to Barnes and Nobles and it is not out yet, i came to your website and found out it is not coming out til July of '09, I then started to go deeper in your website and found this BLOG about giving away a ARC of the book, this would be the best gift i could ever get for him. I told him it does not come out til July and he said "ok" and walked out the room with his head down, so PLEASE PLEASE consider him to win the ARC. Even if he don't TY anyways for at least letting me see my lil boy finaly interested in something and makin him look forward to something, it has been a long time since i seen anything make him this excited. Please email me if you like, i would like to meet the woman that made such a difference in my 11yr olds life, my email is Kellie4inchey@aol.com

Congratulations on the nomination Auntie Heathter! :D If I lives in Missouri I'd totally vote, but I'm pretty far away, sadly. Good luck, though!

I'd love an ARC of Tenth Grade Bleeds, of course, but I always have horrible luck with random drawing type things like this xD

Sunnymcgee, high five! I have an 'Edward Cullen' t-shirt from minion stuff, and I also wore it when I saw *cough*was dragged*cough* to see twilight:D The first time my friends saw the shirt though, they started squealing over the fact that it said Edward Cullen on it... -_- I don't even like Edward...

"whoever said the anime isnt normal books they are! there just japenese books!"
I definitely agree- just because they're comics doesn't mean that they're bad! You can actually learn a lot from them, especially about Japanese culture (if you read the right ones)

I checked out the Strawberry Syrup, it's awesome.

My friends now love you even though they know not of your existence, Zombie, half of them are over-obsessed with Twilight, the other half don't care. I personally like it as much as any other book (me heart books)

3:11 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

For the record, I prefer being called a minion versus being called a fan (originality for the win!), but to each his own :)

Spread the love! :)
I think the majority of my friends are over-obsessed with Twilight, and about... like, three of them either don't care of haven't even read it xD
Personally, while I can't say that I liked Twilight all that much, I guess pretty much everyone could argue that there's no way I hate it, considering I read the first three books ^^;

3:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I do as well. 'Fan' just sounds more belittling to me than 'Minion'

I guess I just don't see the wrongs of things that everyone else does. I read for the story, not the message. And that's apparently not how it's supposed to be done. Hopefully it doesn't change, I would hate to read a book and the only thing I took away from it was that it was trying to redeem something 'evil'.

I finished my short storys, my brother pete -younger brother- says the second one, now since i reread them both i cant chose, my mom thinks they both great -she is a mom- i am waiting for bout a week for my older bros mikey and jimmy and mike's gf tiffany -they coming home to Christmas- for once they come home to tell me what they think, I was goin have my gothist cuz read em but i can just imagine what she will say -she loves vampires, so she thinks im a clone, even tho she hates goths- so i like hav no clue which one i'm entering!

I try to find a reference picture for things I can't draw then copy it, just not the same, as in rope going around something, my reference was a monkey holding a rake in his tail and what I drew was a vine rapping around a post.

Hm, I know of these homschool groups, they have oodles of them here (we don't do things with them anymore)
Midwest, as in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri... um... South Dakota, Wyoming... the Louisiana Purchase area, actually. I live in Iowa.

i'm looking for a picture of fake blood splattered, like thats all it is so you can add it to something? does anyone know where i can get a pic of that, all i'm looking is like, say you took a paint brush wet with fake blood and there is nothing there and you splatter the camera with it, so all you get on the picture is the splatter, if that can help you imagine what i am looking for.

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
