What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'
"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding,
sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and
chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale,
New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE
THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a
great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs
you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod
is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of
his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part
'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping
tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or
a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a
definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's
THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM
"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a
sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher
Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB
"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark,
biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were
different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather
Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern
day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth
grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author
of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES
"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires
in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the
decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures
the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure.
Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of
HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES
"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified
it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern,
it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light
of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark
indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas
Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH
"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and
laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when
Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE
VAMPIRE
"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted
it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH |

I'll fill you in on everything later Auntie, but i can't talk anymore now..... congrats!!!!

2008 was a super busy year that I have to say. This year I got into Vlad, 'cause I saw EIGHTH GRADE BITES in scholastic and I ordered it and fell in love! Your books are really great and congrats on all your sucess!
luh-v, VladGirl12
2008 was a little bit of everything random rolled into a huge ball of confusion. :)=
I got into the series this year and i love it. I am going to beg the manager at my local barnes and nobel to throw a party like they did for breaking dawn and the last 3 harry potter books. I'm so excited.
2008 has been fangtastic[: ive gone to some of my first intense concerts, read my first vladimire tod book :D, gahh its just been amazing and 2009 is looking to be awesome! im so excited to find out about the short story contest!!
2008 for me has been pretty awesome :) I went to Baltimore for an Anime Convention and met one of my idols of the art world! I got into the Vlad series, which of course is fangtabulous, I've had good success with my Japanese class at school which is a relief because I'm not usually good at languages, and I can't find too much the complain about except for the fact that we haven't gotten any snow where I am yet -_- But, alas, I'll just have to deal. Here's to hoping for a good 2009 for everyone! :)
Hm, maybe I should make a resolution not to ramble so much? xD
Hmmmm... this year was VERY full, I started really writing fanfiction this year, drawing more, got into a few different crazy fandoms (Batman!), read a lot of good books, met a few nice people, reached some goals, and settled into a new church(the end of last year saw my family basically being kicked out of our old one.) I look forward to much more writing (maybe even typing out a whole story perhaps), drawing, bonding, reading, I could go on.
Hm, new years resolutions? Maybe write something romantic. I've never really done that before, or dye my hair... Hey, I might even get a cellphone!(my sister got hers when she was fourteen.) The last one I'm not very ecstatic about though...
And... maybe talk less. *laughs*
I make resolutions...then never keep them.
My resolutions for next year:
-Actually have my first story done and edited
-Work on my next story and possibly have it done before the end of the year
-Get good grades in school
-Have a lot of vampire series books. (I already have two shelves full of vampire books)
-Get better at drawing and writing
Meh....I'll probably do..half of these.
1. This year i found Vlad, Auntie Heather and all fellow Minions.
2. I found i was Goth.
3. We found this really awesome home schooling thing were home schoolers from across the country come and study Atonomy and disect real human bodys XD for when i'm in 9th grade.
4. I got into Soccer.
5. I met new friends.
6. And I'm going to try to ignore everything my family says about me and Goth..
Though some bad things happened such as
-I need braces and will be getting them in the new year.
-I might need glasses and I'm going to the eye docter some time in the new year.
-I have some problems breathing, i get short of breath and i will need to see a docter cause of that..
Luv AVL
Almost forgot, I started my Vampire series......
luv AVL
This year i'm grateful that i got enough courage to get on here, i read more Vlad books, and i survived the first few months of high school!
Resolutions? Read more, better grades, and not being so klutzy (i hit my head into a chair already) ;)
Jess
Glasses and braces aren't bad, I have friends who've had both. Think of glasses as frames for your eyes, and braces will make your teeth nice and straight.
Juno taught that I don't need to be labeled.
I know Rj, its not having them that kinda worrys me, its they way i'll talk when i have braces, and breaking my glasses...... ya'know?
lvu AVL, how good was Juno, i want to see that....
I loved it, though a lot of people were ruined on it by the beginning.
My braces friends didn't talk weirdly, and if you're careful then you won't break them (plus they make straps to put around them so you don't lose 'em.)
o0o0o0oo thanks! isn't there like a scene in the beginning of Juno?????
luv AVL
My mom is kid of Odd.... she will let me wear black clothes to some degree but when it comes to makeup..... she can't really go past black nailpolish and a little and i mean a barely noticable amount of black eye shadow and thats really it.
luv AVL
Yeah.
My vast experience of the internet pretty much made me able to judge-less-ly watch the rest of the movie.
I'm just too tolerant, it seems.
Oh, toooooo bad then i probably won't be able to watch it.
luv AVL
Hm, *shrugs* I don't know.
My computers volume isn't working (the one I got for Christmas), we've tried jsut about everything, anyone have a possible solution? AND I can't download this writing program, so I might be stuck with Notepad for writing, so.. help? Please?
happy new year...blablablabla yeah. i have no resolutions. new year's isn't that big a deal to me.
happy new year...almost...it's still about an hour until 12! resolutions?? hmm have/make this the best year i can! this year was fantastic, and even if there were little bumps, i got to share my story, begin reading Vlad, and have great friends! i can only hope 09 will be good as well! :)=
Happy New Year, Minions!
RJ, are you sure your volume is turned up? What are you running, Vista? You might have to take it back...
You might want to try going to control panel and viewing sound settings, you might need to like mannualy fixing the sound and stuff...
luv AVL
Happy New Year of 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!
luv AVL
Happy New Year!
RJ, AVL is right, check settings, if that's not it there migfht be a bug in the computer...my dad's better at this stuff then i am. And downloading? idk...
Jess
2008 was great but 2009 will be fangtastic!
Also can't wait for tenth grade bleeds it gonna be a hell of a year!!!
I did all that. The volume is... almost halfway full-blast, and the control panal says it's on... yes, it is a Vista. I'll be really pissed if I havbe to get a new one. Darn computer wasted too much time to bew worth starting all over. Maybe I should have gone with Mac (duh)
Well, story of my life, thing doesn't work, I have to settle for less than what I want. It's never going to each me anything, why keep happening?
*teach
Well my new year was great! I had my friend over and we played the wii.... Lots o fun. Other than that I just kinda sat around watching friends. And AVL my parents are the same way. My mom won't let me wear to much black so I got labled as emo. I'm also not alowed to wear trip... teardrop.
Well, usually nothing exciteing or great happens in my life but 2008 had a few good things. Like I went on a real vacation for the first time (while going to a non-neghboring state as well) in Tennessee. Also, I started highschool. And I think I got lucky, too. I was suppose to have this aweful teacher for next semester after the break (not aweful as mean, aweful as in bad teaching) but she got fired on the last day before the break (as I heard and hope is true). All her students got bad grades, I heard that when she had someone teach for a few minutes they learned more in those few minutes than the rest of the week.O_o So that would be a lucky break of the year 2008. (hey, that rhymed)
As for resolutions... don't do those either. :|
RJ, Mac isn't THAT great, trust me, i kno things.
My friend had sound problems, but it was becuase it was an old computer..i think, i think i'll have to ask now...
lol, Camidee, u started high school two? My teachers sorta rock...but get off topic real easy. Ex. We got from teh printing press to drving age
Jess
Yeah, well this computer is brand new.
I know, but Windows despises me and my family, and Mac seems to not (my sister has a Macbook). Plus it would save a lot of time putting up things like internet routers ad security systems when Macs are Wifi and guarded on most sides.
Good news update: got Open Office and firefox working, bad news? still no sound.
Good news!!! My volume works!!! Hallelujah!
Wow I can't believe 2008 is over!!! For me 2008 was a roller coaster with good times and bad!!! I'm just glad to start fresh with a new year!!! Hope your new year is great Auntie Heather!!!
xoxo
Kaela :DDD
Thanks Auntie Heather, if I dressed Goth everyday, in everyway, you'd be invited to my funeral..../: almost my whole family -except my parents and brothers, my parents would just hate what i am, not me- would hate me.... and my ear drums would explode every second of the day..... wrose part is some people think that i'm trying to rebel against them, i guess they just don't want to see that i really am like this....
Luv Loyal Minion AVL..... p.s this was for the Be Yourself post
I don't think that 'rebellious' is what it used to be. Rebellious people used to be the kids going out and making wrong choices, nowadays I think the rebel is the one who doesn't.
Yeah that was random... sorry...
Its ok, you're right. Now they think rebellious-ness is when kids go around dressing different and/or being good..... that is so now right!!
luv AVL

Don't you need somehing to rebel against to be rebellious...=/
Society, rebelling against society these days is being good and having correct morals. Which is really quite awful. But not new.
True, congrats on gettign teh sound and stuff btw.
Just went to NY adn it was freezing!...and very crowded
Jess
I'm a bit late, but Happy New Years!
I dont have any new years resolution, lol o-o;;
And Gratz on EIGHTH GRADE BITES being nominated for the Truman Readers Award! :D
Thanks.
Anyone heard The Offspring's music?
I saw The Offspring perform at a club called Clutch Cargo's. It was awesome :)
A club eh?
(make what you will out of that *laugh*)
I've heard all of two song by them, I like 'em.
Maybe I'm dense today, but...huh?
i've heard the offspring! they are pretty good :)= my friend really likes them.
Never mind... You know that time when I said that I tend to act stupid and nonsensically? Yeah that was quite true.
I heard of them, have two songs of there's on my Ipod ;)
Anyone hear heard of The White Stripes?
Jess
yup -_^ i haven't really heard a lot of their stuff, but i know them. what about intruder alert??
my favorite by offspring is youre going to go far kid : )
Soooo.... anyone ready to start life again?
no! haha i can't believe break is already over!!! but i do want to see my friends again...just not looking foward to all of the work again :(
For some reason, I am REALLY sad that 2008 is over and it will never be 2008 again...I feel like crying...
2008 was a great year. I got eighth grade bites at a book fair! haha!
2009 should be a good year too. But if anyone has noticed, 2009 is "POOS" backwards...so I don't know...
Anyways, Have a great new year Auntie and Minions!!!
Vampire Amanda! <333

Aww.... how sweet!
Chuck Norris can believe it's not butter.
And, so? everyone thought the world was going to end on June six '06, it didn't. And thus far I'm doing pretty well back with school.
Um RJ I have no idea what you're talking about with the whole everybody thought the world was going to end June sixth '06 thing??????

666
the date, also the number of the beast.
Now you can be a smart alec. Lucky you. XD
A lot of people believe the end of the world will be Dec. 21, 2012.
Me...I don't put much faith in those kinds of predictions. ;)
A lot of people believe the end of the world will be Dec. 21, 2012.
Me...I don't put much faith in those kinds of predictions. ;)
They have a whoel website on it...it's actually pretty funny....or at elast that'[s what i've heard
66 the number of the beast...that's in a song...and is close to my locker number 2-66...only one more 6 and my locker coudl be evil lol
Jess
Oh i see.....I knew that was the beast number..... but didn't know of the predictions and stuff...
luv AVL
The song 'Number Of The Beast" or something like that on Guitar Hero 3, yeah.
666 was for biblical reasons, the number of the beast, the beast is the devil, 2012 is over the Mayan calender ending if I'm not mistaken, which is something I'm not going to stake as hard in, I believe the Bible over a long gone civilization, and the Bible never said that the world would end ON 666... annnnnndddd.... I've probably said something stupid now :\
