NINTH GRADE SLAYS Mini-Contest!!!

Since the ARC Fairy has clearly bestowed his love on me today (in the form of a pile of Advaced Reading Copies I found hidden away in my closet), I've decided to hold a mini-contest. What's at stake? An autographed ARC of NINTH GRADE SLAYS. How do you enter? You simply leave a comment telling me why you want to read it. I'll draw a random winner on Monday morning.

P.S. TWO ARCs will be given away. One here and one on my MySpace. Feel free to enter both. Good luck!

I left this same comment on your last contst and i still feel the same way the only thing that has changed is now it would be even greater cause my sons birthday is on March 3rd...

I am a single mother of 4, and about 4 years ago my daughter who was 8yrs old at the time(4days before her 9th birthday) got Kidnapped and raped, my son who was then 7 really gave up on so much, he felt like he needed to protect his sister and never focused on anything to do with himself, he is now 11 and is stil the same way with her, i have tried to get him involved with many things but he never wants to, he has failed in school since then also, then out of the blue we stumble across your books and he is so intrigued by them, he reads them in one sitting, and he said to me "mom i know we don't have alot of money and you have to buy for the girls too, but alls i want for christmas is the next book from Heather Brewer TENTH GRADE BLEEDS", so i went to Barnes and Nobles and it is not out yet, i came to your website and found out it is not coming out til July of '09, I then started to go deeper in your website and found this BLOG about giving away a ARC of the book, this would be the best gift i could ever get for him. I told him it does not come out til July and he said "ok" and walked out the room with his head down, so PLEASE PLEASE consider him to win the ARC. Even if he don't TY anyways for at least letting me see my lil boy finaly interested in something and makin him look forward to something, it has been a long time since i seen anything make him this excited. Please email me if you like, i would like to meet the woman that made such a difference in my 11yr olds life, my email is Kellie4inchey@aol.com

TY AGAIN A MILLION TIMES

I haven't seen any of your works here in Australia, though I think they sound like fun reads. Hopefully your peeps at Dystel & Goderich (and Penguin) are working on securing international rights :-)

You Knows, I would have entered this contest but the story that kellie4inchey left really touched me. Tears built up in my eyes as I read it. It seems like Auntie Heathers books has made such a difference in that little boys life and he deserves a copy of the ARC. Most of us have the money to go out and buy any book we want but this boy does not have that privelege. Auntie Heather, I think you should really give him the ARC. As I say, Reading helps the soul.

P.S. I have never won anything but I think this boy should get the ARC. What do you think?

Dude! That's so awesome your giving away books. I had never won anything before in my life (One day I was sick and was drinking Canada Dry and it said I had won two more bottles of it underneath the cap. Later on, it said I had to pay for the bottles...darn soda caps). I really want to win the book because I am a big fan of your series (You probably hear that everyday...) and I think you bring a whole new aspect to the vampire legend thus twining elements of good humor (Sometimes I had laughed out loud and got a few stares, but was worth it) and action-packed, bloody awesomeness (I do not think that is a word). Good luck in your writing and I'm happy for you that your surgery went well.

Why do I want to read Ninth Grade Slays? Well... because The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod are a few of my FAVORITE books EVER!!! I finished EGB and NGS in 3 days (but I could gave read it in 2.) and winning an autographed ARC would be awesome, because I'm trying to get all of my favorite author's autographs [I have 2 Anthony Horowitz autographs (author of the Alex Rider Adventures).] I would love yours. Go Vlad!!! I want to read it also because Vlad's AWESOME! Duh! Fangs for the contest, Auntie Heather!

I came across EGB at a BookSale store here in Philippines. I read it in one day and loved the characters you created. I think Vlad is the next coolest vampire out there since Anne Rice's Lestat. I don't think there's a copy of NGS in any book stores here so I was kinda hoping (and wishing) I'd win one. I don't know if I qualify though since I don't live in the U.S. but still there's no harm in trying, right?
Thanks for doing this btw and I wish you a speedy recovery. :)

Hello Heather,
I actually didn't drop by your blog to enter a contest, but, hey, I'd be honored if I won and would put the book in my classroom library.

I really came over here to tell you that we've been busy promoting your books at our junior high school. The new librarian agrees with me that, although it's great that kids want to read, the Twilight books are just not good for the easily influenced girls who read them. Plus, most boys don't want to read them. So, the librarian (who is offering prizes to kids who read enough books to fill out a bingo card full of different categories) asked me for help in the "vampire" category. I told him yours and the Darren Shan books are tons better for kids than the aforementioned series, but that I felt your books were better written. Thus, Vlad is displayed in 2 prime spots in our library, in full glory. And more and more kids are reading your stuff.
Keep writing. Vampires rock.

I've read both your books not only once but twice :] I know I may not be different from all the other 257843987954 fans but I want to say I love your books. And at the moment I'm collecting vampire books :] eeee :] and most of the vampire books I have read, are usually about females and them falling in love and all good ol' dark stuff. but your different, your books tells the the storie of a "male" vampire and his struggles. i adore it. Your books are exciting, and interesting always wanting me thirsting for more and more. Ideas pop in my head like what'll happen next who will vlad meet what will happen to vlad. but i won't know intill july for the third book! gahhh the wait is absolutely horrid. but i want to say that it would make my day damn fantastic if won the an ACR of ninth grade slays

I haven't commented in awhile. :(

Anyways, why I want to read Ninth Grade Slays.

This will REALLY help with ideas for my story. I have now gone through a complete story revision. I'm rewriting my whole story over again.

I love your series so far. :) I always want to know what will happen with Vladimir. Whenever I see the name Vladimir, I immediatly think of Vlad. He's one of the sweet lovely and innocent vampires you don't find very often.

And, I'd always wonder how his blood cravings will go. I always wonder who he will take a bite out of next. ;)

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
