WAKE-fest (or WAKE-stock...take your pick)
Minions, by now most of you must realize that among the Minion Horde is an amazing new author by the name of Lisa McMann. Lisa is a good friend and the author of WAKE, a book that I am seriously drooling to get my little claws on. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go out and show Janie (the main character in WAKE) some love. ![](http://a694.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/101/m_f4038f968957622cf87a7de3bfc954d5.gif)
What's the book about? For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime. She can't tell anybody about what she does; they'd never believe her or, worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control. Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. Because for the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant.... Lisa has some amazingly cool free downloadables, and is going on a book tour! So go out to see her (dates/places below), wear your Minion Bling, and spread the love, Minions! What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'
"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding,
sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and
chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale,
New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE
THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a
great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs
you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod
is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of
his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part
'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping
tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or
a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a
definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's
THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM
"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a
sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher
Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB
"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark,
biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were
different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather
Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern
day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth
grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author
of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES
"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires
in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the
decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures
the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure.
Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of
HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES
"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified
it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern,
it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light
of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark
indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas
Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH
"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and
laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when
Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE
VAMPIRE
"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted
it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH |

Aw, I'd go but I'm afriad it's just too far away for me D: sorry Heather!
Wah! I can't go, too far. I do want to get Wake though, can't wait for it to come out here. *sigh* My state really is boring, authors or clebs never do any tours here. You need to come to Louisiana Auntie!! I'd love to meet you in person and I know a lot of people here that are big fans of your book. :D
Yay thanx for the recommendation Im gonna go and read it now. Double yay, she coming to California!! <3
The best way to show love, honestly, is to buy an author's book.
And on a completely *cough* unrelated note: the best way to ensure a book tour is solid sales (I'm guessing...but it can't hurt).
I wish I could meet you all!
Oooohhh! I've been waiting to get my teeth into this book ever since you first posted about it! Thanks for the hoodie and the button, by the way! I squeeled and danced around the house for about 5 minutes. Until I got on everyones nerves. ^-^
<333
P.S. If I can find a ride I might be able to go to one of the Illinois ones! *dances*
Wake sounds amazing... I'm envious of authors, sorry Auntie. Just to be able to pull the jumble of thoughts from your brain and put into a story that makes sense... *pouts*
IM hecka lucky, my brother lives in walnut creek and is almost as big of a fan of reading as i am so im gonna try and convivce him to take me there :)
Her book sounds wonderful. I'll have to mention it to few of my folks...
Hey Auntie Heather! Thanks for posting about my tour -- you totally rock!
Just wanted to make an update to the tour schedule because I got some new information -- Wednesday March 12 I will be doing two presentations at schools with Anderson's Bookshop, but I am not doing an evening signing at their store.
Just wanted to clear that up!
