Procrastinating? Who? Me?? Never! I wouldn't dare! Not with a deadline looming...

Greetings, Minions! I thought I'd blog today, as I haven't in a bit (and okay, I admit it...I'm procrastinating some this morning on continuing my work on TENTH GRADE BLEEDS). The writing goes well, I suppose. But some scenes just exhaust me to no end to write. There's a lot of action in TGB, and a lot of stress for poor Vlad, which translates into a lot of work. But I'm not complaining--it's just taking longer than I'd expected and my deadline of March 1st is looming dangerously close. (EEP!)

The only complaint I've heard about EIGHTH GRADE BITES (which really blows me away--how cool that you all love it so much!) was the length (many have said it was too short), so I'm happy to share that NINTH GRADE SLAYS (hitting stores April 17, 2008--"mark" those calendars!) is 278 pages long, a full 96 pages longer than EGB. And TGB is shaping up to be even longer. Good for the story (and for you Minions who want more Vlad), bad for poor Auntie Heather's sore fingertips. But hey...anything for you, my Minion Horde!

If you're anywhere near Flint, Michigan, you'll have to come out to the Barnes & Noble on Miller Rd. for my in-store launch party on April 19, 2008--more details to come!

By the way, all hoodies have now been shipped...as well as all ARCs. If you're a reviewer, bookseller, or librarian, and would like an ARC of NINTH GRADE SLAYS, drop me a line. I still have a dozen or so left.

Now, does anyone have some suggestions for kick-butt high-energy fight scene music?

Michigan. -_- You have to come to Lousiana some time Auntie! We never get anyone great or famous come down here, Anne Rice used to live here but she moved. T_T

Also for the song, I have a few that may be good.

See who I am - Within Temptation
Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park
Too Bad - Nickelback

Some of my favorites too. ^_^

Muse's "Knights of Cydonia". Epic, and the filmclip's set in a space western. Which has nothing to do with vampires, but still ;-)

Have a lovely day! :-)

The Run Lola Run soundtrack is 2nd to none.

All butt-kicking all the time. Plus, it's in German.

Heather! You live! *cling* It's great to see a new entry! Now I live in NH so I think going to the launch party is a no go for me (which bites!).

But lets see if I can get you a good list of music...
~Dance with the Devil-Breaking Benjamin
~Evil Angel-Breaking Benjamin
~Get Off My Back~Bryan Adams
~God's Song-Cold
~No Giving Up-Crossfade

Ok I'll stop now, I have way too many songs. ^^;

I was gonna say Evanescence and My Chemcial Romance as well, Heather.

You've got good taste in music, Ashlye. I live in S.C. too so there must be something in the water. We're just cool! :*)

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
