Day of the Black Sun

It's Friday, Minions, and you know what that means. Woooooooo! New Avatar episode on Nick! And even better, it's an hour-long movie type deal, where Ang will finally face the Fire Lord. My little geeky heart is about ready to burst with excitement! Vlad's all playing it cool, like he could care less, but you know he's excited too. I'm just counting down to the moment when Zuko wakes up and realizes his life was better without his father's approval--man, talk about being careful what you wish for...

Anyhoo, it's been a while and Auntie Heather missed you all, so I thought I'd check in and see how things are. I'm DYING to share the cover of NINTH GRADE SLAYS with you all, but still can't...soon, I promise!

So...what's goin' on in Minion-Land? Anybody else an Avatar nut?

I'm such an Avatar nut but I don't really care that the hour long episode is on tonight because I found it online a few weeks ago and already watched it =D it was pretty sweet. I'm sure you'll love it! So Vlad's an Avatar fan too? Now that's cool.

Well I haven't been able to sleep well and tomorrow I got piano lessons. So that's the randomness in my life. Oh! Today I started drawing this awesome picture! If you want to see it sometime I'll give you a link to my art page =D

Sorry to say, but I'm not a big Avatar fan but it's a pretty good show. You should watch CN (Cartoon Network) on Saturday. They have awesome shows just like Avatar. My favorite one is One Piece, which you should totally watch.

I was a huge Samurai Jack fan, but haven't tied myself to a show for a long time...until this past week. Dexter is officially my new jam. I love that show.

Glad you and Vlad are doin' well. Can't wait ta see how our favorite bloodsucker deals with the frosh pressures!

My son is five...and Avatar is the one show we love watching together. (Well, that and SpongeBob.)
My favorite one was the one where they have to get through a cave or a tunnel or something and they learn that "love shines brightest in the dark." I was sniffling! So good...

Yay for Ang! I haven't been able to watch for awhile. *cries* So BUSY! But it's super good to hear from you and Vlad. You should watch Blood Plus and Bleach on Cartoon Network! Personally, I find it AMAZAZING. But that's just me. 0.o

Ohohohoh!!! Cover art! I can't wait! I've got a ton of my friends hooked on Vlad, so they're excited, too. :D

It's snowing here. Yay winter! I like the cold, for some odd reason.

Anywho, have a great weekend! Say hi to Vlad for me, kay?

I agree with Noel, Miss Brewer. You have to watch those shows on CN and Adult Swim. There's one called Death Note that's been on recently and it might be something you would like. Intelligent, Creative, and this story doesn't have it's happy ending without a little blood. ;)=

Well, I do watch a bit of Adult Swim (mostly Robot Chicken), but haven't delved into any of the shows mentioned. I'll definitely check them out! What boggles my mind about Avatar is that it's flawless. I deeply care about the characters and will be immensely saddened when the season ends. It's not often I become so attached to a tv show like that...

Robin, I totally cry over that show more often than I'll admit. ;)

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
