It's Official...
I have until March 1, 2008 to complete TENTH GRADE BLEEDS and turn it into my editor.
Contest Time!
Okay, first, a weather update. It's snowy. Like crazy I-am-not-leaving-the-house snowy. However, the temperatures definitely allow for velvet and wool, so I am a happy Auntie Heather. :) I've spent the last few days sipping from steamy mugs with Vlad (mine's full of cocoa...his...well, I'll let you guess), and I'm actually enjoying this winter. And yes, I realize I still have a few hoodies in boxes, sitting here waiting to be shipped. Aren't I a terrible author?? But in my defense, I have been busier than ever lately (notice the blog slowing down?) and I'm also a bit of a forgetful idiot on occasion. So please, forgive me! Hoodies are on their way shortly. To make it up to you all, I'll send you an extra bit of happiness. Now, on to the goodies! Check out my Win Things page (link is at the top of this page), and make sure you enter, and let me know what you think of the prizes. :)=
It's Cover Time!!!
Behold, Minions! The cover for the second book in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, NINTH GRADE SLAYS!
Attention: Minion Horde! (and if you're reading this, that means you!)
Have any burning questions about the fate of Vladimir Tod that you just have to ask, but haven't yet? Curious about Elysia, Otis, or even the goth kids? Want to know where I bought my Happy Bunny jammie pants? Well, here's your chance to ask me whatever you'd like to! I'm participating in an author chat over at Faerie Drink, starting today (Dec. 9) and going through December 15th. So follow this link, register (it's easy!) and ask away! Don't forget to tell your friends!
EGB on XM & NGS--Can I pick a vowel, please?
OMG! I'm such a tard. Thanks to Eryc for reminding me to post this bit of happy news! I was interviewed by Kim Alexander on XM Satellite radio! Kim is brilliant, fun, wonderful, and you should all listen to her, as often as you can. Unfortunately, you missed three of the spots (because your overlord has been a bit preoccupied with TGB), but! Mark your calendars, because you can hear the interview again on Sonic Theater, XM 163 Thursday, December 6th at 3pm!!! And go here. (Thank you, Jaysen!) Also, I forgot to post it over here (I posted it on my MySpace yesterday), but here's a tasty lil morsel...a description of NINTH GRADE SLAYS! Tell me what you think! (and don't forget to pre-order this on Amazon--sometimes they screw up and ship books early!) NINTH GRADE SLAYS:If middle school sucked for Vladimir Tod, high school is a real drain. Besides being a punching bag for bullies, he's still stalled with dream girl Meredith, and he's being tailed by a photographer from the school newspaper. Needless to say, practicing his vampire skills hasn't exactly been a priority for Vlad--until now.
A monumental trip to Siberia with Uncle Otis is Vlad's crash course in Vampire 101. Training alongside the most gifted vampires is exactly what Vlad needs to sharpen those mind-control skills he's been avoiding. And he'd better get it right, because the battle brewing back home with the slayer who's been stalking him...could be Vlad's last.

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'
"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding,
sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and
chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale,
New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE
THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a
great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs
you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod
is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of
his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part
'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping
tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or
a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a
definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's
THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM
"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a
sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher
Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB
"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark,
biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were
different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather
Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern
day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth
grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author
of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES
"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires
in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the
decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures
the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure.
Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of
HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES
"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified
it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern,
it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light
of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark
indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas
Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH
"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and
laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when
Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE
VAMPIRE
"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted
it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH |
