Your present is coming with me! Hopefully it makes it all the way there and no one - eats it, uses it, wears it - whatever.

Thanks, Jax!

Yay, pressies! Okay, that could be a very scary description, depending on the present, Dawn. ;) See you tomorrow!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Ok, that's the extent of my singing. :) I could have the pup chime in. He's cuter.

Hope the boys all get you something good for telling their stories.

Thanks, Sybir!

Oh, my boys are treating me right.

Vlad made me a cake with strawberry filling. At least...I think it's strawberry...

Devon's invited me to a night at the Playground, under the light of a full moon...

and Dillon gifted me with a vacation in Wonderland over the winter holidays.

It's a good birthday, indeed, if a little quiet. :)=

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

HUZZAH!!!!

Here's some virtual chocolate <>, which of course is the best kind to get, because you can eat all you want and not gain a pound.

I hope you have an awesome day. Tell your folks thanks too :)

Thanks, guys!

Calorie free chocolate? *whisper whisper whisper* Vlad wants to know if we can have a warm cup of blood to go with that. :)=

I'm fairly sure Vlad could scare one up :)=

Didn't Elvis Costello have an album called Blood and Chocolate?

Yep, I was right:

Maybe some good listening music for Vlad's next book? You can apparently listen to excerpts of the songs right from the amazon site :)=

Happy birthday! I actually thought that cake looked kind of cheerful and thought you'd gone all happy and flowery on us. Phew. Glad to find out otherwise.

Ewoh, you're linking me to EIGHTH GRADE BITES...did you mean to?

Thanks, Richelle! Happy? A lil. (part of the charm of a perky goth--I've gone so dark that I've punched through to the other side) But flowery? Never! :)=

Blogger Ewoh Nairb said...

Well, shoot... I thought I had it linked correctly.

This should be the proper link:

Sorry about that, but hey, think of it as free advertizing :)=

No doubt! But uhhh...Elvis Costello? So not in line with Vlad's tastes.

However, Vlad did wonder if Elvis were speaking directly to him when he titled one song "Leave My Kitten Alone". :)=

Dunno... obviously not channeling EC today.

Speaking of musical taste's... what would a typical iPod playlist be for his fangedness? Would it include Good Charlotte's 'Bloody Valentine'? Maybe some Boingo? Or am I so far old-school that I have no idea?

And, while I'm at it, what's on your playlist when you write? Is it different for each book?

11:56 AM
Blogger Heather Brewer said...

Wow...Boingo...there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Oh yes, different for every book--and sometimes the songs don't necessarily depict the mood of the scene, either. Vlad and I are really into Kill Hannah right now. We love Green Day, The Killers, Panic! at the Disco. And there's always time for Evanescence. :)=

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
