About NINTH GRADE SLAYS...

Greetings, Minions! How are all my little nightstalkers doing? Auntie Heather is busy with packing and getting everything ready (read: cleaning and trying to find my desk) for my upcoming trip. As an FYI, I'll be gone this Wednesday morning and won't be back until Sunday night (but no blogging again until Monday). But please feel free to leave comments while I'm gone and tell me what you loved and loathed about NINTH GRADE SLAYS--I'm really anxious to hear it (yes, the good, the bad, and the ugly). With this book, the series takes a turn into what it will soon be. EIGHTH GRADE BITES set the stage, but NINTH GRADE SLAYS is where Vlad's story truly begins. It's darker, much darker than EIGHTH GRADE BITES. And I promise you, everything that I do with these books, I do for a reason.

It's hard to choose my favorite chapter, but choosing my fave chapter title of NINTH GRADE SLAYS is easy. It's Psycho Slasher Chain-saw Guy from Hell. And my fave moment in the book takes place on page 258 (but please don't skip ahead to that part--you'll understand in due time). Otis continues to be a great chracter in this book, as does our favorite fanged boy (Vlad), and I'm hoping that I've thrown you a few twists and turns that you'll enjoy. There's more blood, more vampires, more Henry making out with random girls, more everything, really. I like this book...and I hope you will too.

If you do, the best thing that you can do is talk about it. Tell your family, your friends, your local booksellers, your librarians. Tell them they should buy it too. Plaster that vampire smiley everywhere you can think of. Make them listen. Because how well Vlad does as a series is up to you, Minions. And so far, you've done an amazing job. Thank you.

I hope to see many of you in Flint, Michigan this Saturday! As a reminder, I'll be at Barnes & Noble at Genesee Valley Mall from 2-5pm. See you there!

I haven't gotten it yet, I'm buying one for my younger sister's birthday on Saturday (Yep, I'm workin gdown the line and creating a new horde of vlad lovers :p)

In honor of the new book, maybe there should be new blue vampire smilies, after the book's got some publicity and stuff.

What do you think Aunt Heather? Have fun at B&N, wish I could be there. -Gabrielle

I can't believe it! My Godmother told me last night she bought Ninth Grade Slays already!!! I was thinking I wouldn't get it for a while since she's coming up this Thur. but now I'll get it then! I'm so so so excited!!!

I also watched the trailer for Ninth Grade Slays...I think I like the first one better.

I did go to my local library and tell her to by Eighth Grade Bites and gave her the link to your site. She always asks me what books to get so I really hope she'll get it!

I'm just way to excited!!!

Gabrielle: I have a few blue smiley t-shirts left, actually, and Minion Bling (but I'm behind on shipping--bad Auntie). Yay, furthering the horde!

Froze8: EEEEE!!! I can't wait for you to read it! My husband prefers the first one too, so you're not alone. Me, I like both. *shrug*

Rachel: Me too! I mean...I can't wait for you to read it. :) *dances with you*

Anonymous: Welcome to my Minion Horde! So far I have five books planned for the series. The next book (after 9th) is called TENTH GRADE BLEEDS. :)=

I have to agree on pg 258 being my fav page, I mean really who doesn't like a little blood and gore and dieing in a book. In my stories the main character always dies
XD
Don't do that with Vlad though!
....
....
Or at least not until the last book...
YEA FOR KILLING OFF MAIN CHARACTERS!

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'

"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding, sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale, New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part 'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM

"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB

"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark, biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES

"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure. Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES

"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern, it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH

"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE VAMPIRE

"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH
