By the way, Vlad says hi
Ugh. Okay, I know it seems like lately, all I've been posting are celebratory ego-fests about me, me, me, and Vlad, Vlad, Vlad. But it's not like I could really help it, what with all the excellent news flooding my inbox these days. And it's not like this is really an apology post, since I really don't feel bad about celebrating my successes. But I am sorry that I haven't given you Minions a little more substance when you've been so, so good to me (and so incredibly patient on all fronts). So...let me catch you up on my day to day. I've been working my butt off to revise the first 50 pages of DEVON'S PLAYGROUND in kick butt, first person POV. My desktop computer just up and died (which they tend to do after NINE FRIGGIN YEARS of use), but the plus is, I'm back to working on my pertyful desk, which I sorely missed. And I'm happily drowning in a sea of FanMail (which we simply must rename, for our purposes here, MinionMail). To answer some of the more popular questions: 1. Yes, there will be another Vlad book...in fact, thre will be several. The next is NINTH GRADE SLAYS and it'll be out next August (2008). 2. I really have no idea whether or not a movie will ever be made of EIGHTH GRADE BITES, but we can always hope! And sorry, but if that does happen, I have zero say (I assume) about who gets to play Vlad. 3. No, Vlad can't marry you. He's only 13. But yes, he loves you too. 4. I love fan art! (Minion Art?) You should always, always send it to me! If I get enough, I'll dedicate a page on my site to it. (And thank you!) 5. You're welcome (in reply to the many, many "thank you for writing this" emails)--thank you for being so unbelievably rad...and for reading it, for spreading the word, for making my dreams come true. Minions rock! Oh! And Vlad and Lexie's blog was featured on PW Children's Bookshelf the other day! What an honor, I tell ya. And, a reminder here, if you aren't reading about Vlad and Lexie...you really should. So that's me: healthy, happy, and working my fingers down to little, bloody stubs. How are all my Minions doing? Catch me up!

What People Are Saying About 'Eighth Grade Bites'
"A spooky mystery that's funny, gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding,
sad, joyous, surprising and topped off with a tasty blend of blood and
chocolate. Yum. What more could you ask for?" ~D.J. MacHale,
New York Times-bestselling author of PENDRAGON: JOURNAL OF AN ADVENTURE
THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
"'Eighth grade Bites' had me on the edge of my seat. It's a
great piece of fiction. It drops you right into the action, grabs
you by the throat (pun intended), and won't let go. Vladimir Tod
is a truly sympathetic character cursed with an existence not of
his own doing, but doing his best to do the right thing. It's part
'Goosebumps' mixed with 'Harry Potter' and a dash – no, a heaping
tablespoon – of Stephen King. If you're in eighth grade, or
a vampire, or an eighth grade vampire, 'Eighth Grade Bites' is a
definite must read!"~Butch Hartman, creator of Nickelodeon's
THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS and DANNY PHANTOM
"Eighth Grade Bites is a terrific vampire tale told with a
sharp, middle-school grin. It definitely does not bite!" ~Christopher
Moore, author of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS and A DIRTY JOB
"Eighth Grade Bites is a delightful novel filled with dark,
biting humor that will appeal to everyone who ever felt they were
different. A deft hand at depicting the angst of teen years, Heather
Brewer does a wonderful job blending vampire legend with the modern
day horror that strikes fear in the heart of so many: the eighth
grade."~Katie MacAlister, New York Times-bestselling author
of EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES
"Heather Brewer has invented the most endearing of vampires
in Vlad, an eighth grader juggling the woes of adolescence with the
decidedly unique difficulties of being a vampire. She perfectly captures
the humor and angst of eighth grade, mixed with a nail-biting adventure.
Utterly charming and irresistible!" ~Liza Conrad, author of
HIGH SCHOOL BITES: THE LUCY CHRONICLES
"This book will fool you. Just when you think you've identified
it as a story lit by the cheery glow of a slightly scary jack-o-lantern,
it becomes something else -- a tale told by the flickering light
of a dying campfire late at night. And the shadows are very dark
indeed. A surprising mix of humor and horror." ~Douglas
Rees, author of VAMPIRE HIGH
"Fresh and fast-paced, with just the right brew of chills and
laughs. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens when
Vlad hits Grade Nine." ~Nancy Baker, author of KISS OF THE
VAMPIRE
"A fabulous book from a gifted storyteller! I never wanted
it to end." ~Gena Showalter, author of OH MY GOTH |

Congratulations on everything, Heather! You rawk! :*) As for catch-up, I haven't been able to rewrite the 1st novel in my urban fantasy series due to the fact that interest has been garnered in a movie script I wrote years ago. I'm almost done with a rewrite for the movie script. A major producer is already considering whether or not to shop it around. I hope I get it sold, so that I can stay home all day and write books because that's what I really love. Don't get me wrong, I like writing movies too, writing anything really, but my first love is writing books! I'll keep you posted!:*)
Congrats on all the wonderful news! You totally deserve it (as does Vlad)! In regaurds to the catching up thing, I'm still working on my rewrite I told you about. It's coming along pretty ok now that I've had time to sit down and work on it again. =)
Is your book available only in the USA or in Europe too?
Aw man he won't marry me? JK. I do love Vlad to death though. I just have to color that pic and I'll e-mail you that minion art of Vlad! Hope to hear more from you soon!
Many sympathies for the loss of your desktop. My laptop officially died yesterday. Actually it died last week, but the repairer (who couldn't repair it) declared it officially dead yesterday...
Enough about me. May good news keep flooding your inbox, and have a lovely day! :-)
And the good news just keeps piling up. Congrats of course on all of it.
Congrats to Demon Hunter as well. That is awesome news.
This is absolutely one of my favorite blogs. So many great people, so much good news about Heather.
